What is Ultherapy?

Ultherapy is a safe, non-surgical ultrasound treatment that counteracts the effects of time and gravity on your skin. Ultherapy uses the body’s own regenerative response to gently and gradually lift skin on the elbow, under the chin and on the neck, and smooth lines and wrinkles on the décolletage.

Here's what to expect during your Ultherapy experience:

Personalized Consultation: During your consultation, Dr. Doyle will evaluate your skin, discuss your goals, and determine if Ultherapy is the right treatment for your needs. This ensures your treatment plan is customized to target the areas where you'll benefit most.

Skin Preparation: First, your skin is cleansed, then soothing ultrasound gel is applied to the targeted area to facilitate the smooth movement of the treatment applicator and ensure optimal energy delivery.

Ultrasound Imaging: Ultrasound imaging is used to visualize the layers of tissue beneath your skin. This step allows Dr. Doyle to precisely identify the areas where the ultrasound energy will be most effective, ensuring a safe and personalized treatment.

Delivery of Ultrasound Energy: Using the Ultherapy device, Dr. Doyle will deliver focused ultrasound energy to the targeted depths of your skin. You may feel a warming or tingling sensation as the energy is applied, indicating that the collagen-stimulating process is underway.

Post-Treatment Care: While some patients may experience temporary redness or slight swelling, these effects are mild and short-lived. Over the next two to three months, your body will naturally produce new collagen, which will gradually lift and tighten the treated area.

Benefits of Ultherapy

Ultherapy offers numerous advantages for individuals, including:

  • Non-invasive: No needles, incisions, or anesthesia required.
  • No downtime: Return to normal activities right after treatment.
  • Natural-looking results: Stimulates your body's collagen for gradual, authentic improvement.
  • FDA-cleared: Proven to lift loose skin on the neck, under the chin, and on the brow, and to reduce chest wrinkles.
  • Customizable: Tailored treatment plans based on your specific concerns and goals.
  • Safe and precise: Real-time ultrasound imaging ensures energy is delivered exactly where needed.
  • Long-lasting improvement: Results build over two to three months and can last up to a year or more.

Ultherapy Candidates

Ultherapy is ideal for men and women who want visible lifting and firming without surgery. You may be a good candidate if you:

  • Are in your 30s or older with mild to moderate skin laxity.
  • Notice sagging or drooping skin on the neck, jawline, brow, or chest.
  • Want to stimulate collagen naturally without invasive procedures.
  • Are looking to extend or enhance the results of a past cosmetic procedure, such as a facelift.
  • Are healthy and have realistic expectations.
  • Prefer gradual improvement over time rather than sudden, dramatic changes.

How long does an Ultherapy treatment take?

The length of the treatment will depend on the area being treated and your individual treatment plan. A face and neck procedure typically takes 60-90 minutes, while a chest treatment takes approximately 30 minutes.

When will I see results? How long do they last?

After your Ultherapy treatment, you may see some initial effect, but the ultimate results will take place over 3-6 months, as your body naturally regenerates collagen. Since the procedure stimulates your own collagen production, how long the results last really depends on you. The treatment produces new collagen on the inside, but your natural aging process will dictate how long that translates into visible results on the outside.

What Does Ultherapy Treat?

Ultherapy lifts and tightens loose skin, producing a firm and youthful appearance in the treatment area. Depending on your specific concerns, Dr. Doyle may recommend Ultherapy for issues such as fine lines and deep wrinkles, sagging jowls, crepey skin on the neck and chest, and loose skin elsewhere on the body. Most parts of the body with droopy, loose, or sagging skin will respond very well to Ultherapy, making it a fantastic non-surgical alternative to various lift procedures.

How Does Ultherapy Work?

Ultherapy uses ultrasound energy to penetrate deeply into the dermis, stimulating the body’s collagen production. Collagen is essential for firm, lifted, and smooth skin but naturally diminishes as we age. By stimulating its production, Ultherapy can tone and tighten the treatment area without incisions, sutures, or scars.

How Long Does it Take to Recover from Ultherapy?

Recovery from Ultherapy is speedy. As a non-surgical treatment, there is no real "downtime" required. While you will need to arrange for a ride to and from our office, you should be able to resume most, if not all, of your daily activities within a few hours of treatment.

Ultherapy may result in temporary muscle weakness, numbness in the treatment area, and paresthesia. These issues typically resolve within a few weeks and are rarely significant enough to interfere with daily life. During your initial consultation, Dr. Doyle will provide information about all potential Ultherapy risks to help ensure you are making the best decision for your needs.

How Can I Prepare for My Ultherapy Procedure?

Ultherapy does not require a significant amount of preparation. However, it is best to come to your procedure with skin free of soap, perfume, and lotion. Because it is non-surgical, you can continue to take all of your medications and supplements without fear of complications.

Can Ultherapy be Combined With Other Procedures?

Ultherapy can correct several concerns, but it is likely not the only treatment you will ever need. Designed to stimulate collagen production and tighten the skin, Ultherapy treatment can be complemented with dermal fillers, wrinkle relaxers, skin resurfacing, and more. The best way to learn which combinations will address your concerns is through a one-on-one consultation at our comfortable Greenwich office.
